Iran news agency covers up Michelle Obama at the Oscars

The Iranian government had lots to say about last night's best picture winner at the Oscar's, "Argo."

They dismissed Ben Affleck's film about the 1979 Iran hostage crisis as an "advertisement for the CIA," claimed it had an unflattering portrayal of the aftermath of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and said the win was endorsed by the U.S. government because it was introduced by First Lady Michelle Obama.

They also had some opinions on what the first lady was wearing.

Anyone who watched the Oscars saw that Obama wore a sparkling silver gown, showing off her trademark bare arms. The image shown by Iranian state news agency Fars showed Obama wearing a similar dress, but with covered arms -- clearly photoshopped.

This isn't the first time images produced by Western companies have been photoshopped to comply with the conservative culture of Muslim governments. Last October, Ikea apologized for removing pictures of women in its furniture catalog distributed in Saudi Arabia.

Another example of why the U.S. and westerners in general need to recognize the vast difference in ways of life and thinking between us and those Muslim societies. We insist on going to war over centuries old issues that will only change when THEY want to change and to keep pushing and criticizing them for being "primitive" serves no purpose except to harden their resolve to be anti-west. They are sovereign nations much older that we and are entitled to do whatever on their soil - as repugnant as it may be to us! To OFFER ideas and help is OK but no unnecessary interference and threats. Lots of lives and $ saved by chillin' on these folks!

Michelle was not on THEIR soil so why should they apply THEIR values to her photograph......remember all the negative actions because of a comic strip.

I agree that it is best to respect other views in and off the world, but on your home turf, one must be in control. When any folks come to this country, no matter what their beliefs, they should wish to become AMERICAN and pratice traditional American customs, then we could all agree. However, when you have twenty+ different groups and all want their ethnicity to have priority, then problems are bound to arise.

Religion is the number one separating factor in the mix.

The Fake News parrots/Limbaugh lickers hate her, so are in at least one respect aligned with the Iranian government. To them, anything the President or Michelle do is inherently evil and a target for attack and ridicule. They are like courtroom prosecutors, seeking a conviction at any cost regardless of the guilt or innocence of the accused. They are completely unaware that they, not their targets, are the evil ones.

And remember how the ultra-conservatives in Israel photoshopped Hillary Clinton and the other woman out completely from photos taken in the security briefing room while the Seals were going after Bin Laden?

I really don't care what you Tea baggers, Taliban or fanatically religious nutcases think of Hillary, Michelle or any other woman connected to Obama but to change reality due to some hyper-sensitivity is ludicrous and beyond childish.

Humans make meanings out of anything and everything.

It is a wonder why attempts to civilize any community often become divisive, rather than unifying.

There are some who just can't resist an opportunity to draw a line in the sand and dismiss what they refuse to accept.

If God isn't laughing at the conservative Iranian establishment over this, then nothing will!

If an angry mob attacked the Iranian Embassy here in the USA, what do you think our Government would do? If they did nothing the Iranians would be screaming. So I say to them, "why is it OK when you do it to someone else, but not OK when they do it to you"? Waiting for your public reply.
