Going the extra distance for votes in Colorado

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - Early voting began Saturday in both Maryland and Florida, the battleground state that was at the heart of the disputed 2000 election. And in Colorado, voting has been underway since Monday. The most recent poll there shows the candidates in a dead heat, which is why both sides are going all out.

In Boulder County, Colorado, Matt Romney joined volunteers going door-to-door.

"Hi there. I'm Matt Romney," he said, "Mitt Romney's son. He's running for president."

The campaigns are getting down to basics, hoping personal outreach will help push those final votes.

More than 70 percent of Colorado voters are expected to vote before Election Day. With the candidates tied, both parties are scrambling to get as many ballots as possible in the bag.

At the University of Denver, Steph Winsor and the young Democrats were canvassing the campus, offering coffee and doughnuts to help energize the base.

Nationally president Obama still dominates the youth vote. But a Harvard Institute of Politics study finds more young Romney supporters say they will definitely go vote.

"If everyone voted who wanted to vote -- who could vote," said Winsor, "we'd be blue without a doubt. The issue is getting them to the polls."

First-time voter Stephen Stanis says he's definitely going to vote -- he's just not sure for whom.

"It's just a matter of trying to figure out where I stand in the political landscape," he said.

And the pressure to choose is building, he says, fueled by strong supporters on both sides of the race.

Romney and Ryan are now screaming "BIG CHANGE! BIG CHANGE!" so the scared and stupid Americans (and Republicans believe some of you are) will be swayed at the last minute to vote for him believing that this "BIG CHANGE"...... whatever it is....... will mean their lives - which they have been manipulated by Right Wing Messaging over the last four years to believe is so terrible because of Obama - will now magically get better than what Obama is offering.

Don't be fooled .....It won't. It's just a ranting chant meant to sway you into thinking "Yeah we need a Big Change just because.....Well, it's got to be better than what we got, Right?"

Obama has had to contend with four years of Republicans stalling and denying all his jobs bills and debt reduction plans JUST SO HE WOULD LOOK BAD and be a "OneTerm" President (their words - their only real goal) and the negative atmosphere in this country would get to this exact point where you would be manipulated to think this right before the election.

Do you want to reward THIS kind of behavior by the Republicans and empower it to continue into the future???????

Barak Obama has been a reasonable, steady, and courageous President guiding us through the worst economic crisis in our generation and is slowly but steadily getting us out of it and moving us forward with a plan that does that but still protects the middle class, the elderly, children, and the poor. It's not going to be easy, or quick....but it works.

Do you really want to turn the country back over to the Party that was the major contributor to getting us into this mess in the first place (deregulation of the hundred trillion dollar finance industry)....that the only "BIG CHANGE" IS BACK TO THE FAILED POLICIES OF THE PAST??!!??

Don't be deluded by Great Panderer Romney who, all along, has offered us lies, half-truths, and flip-flops along with pleasant platitudes with a handsome, smiling face and a strong, nice voice (which has been well trained by a well-paid coaching staff, speech writers, and spin team who have focused everything on manipulating YOU!)).

Stick with President Obama.

And then retract. The trend like in most of the other swing states is a small, but stubborn lead that is ever so gradually widening. In reality there is not nearly so much tension and suspense as CBS want to allege about who will win.
