CBS Evening News wins 2012 Murrow Award

(CBS News) The CBS Evening News has won a 2012 RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Award in the Video Investigative Category. The awards honor excellence in electronic journalism.

CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson, producer Chris Scholl and editor Matt Tureck took home the prize for won for Gunwalker. In the gunwalker case, ATF agents say they were ordered to allow thousands of weapons to be sold to suspected suppliers for Mexico's drug cartels. The idea of letting so many guns "walk" onto the street was apparently to see where they would turn up and go after the major cartel kingpins instead of the smalltime weapons traffickers.

In all, CBS News won four 2012 RTNDA Murrow Awards. The "60 Minutes" report "The Garden of the Queen" won in the Video Feature Reporting category. CBS Radio News won the Overall Excellence Award for the sixth year in a row. Radio also took home the award for Best News Series: 9/11 Ten Years Later.

There was no sting. The ATF did not botch anything. DOJ in charge and ordered ATF "to stand down" as they helplessly watched guns walk to Mexico by the thousands. This is an Eric Holder plan that they knew would have to be "stopped" when discovered - but it took the death of a BP agent to stop it. DOJ actors in this case are accessories to murder - just a matter of time before the memo that started the GRIT Group VII emerges. It will have Eric Holder's signature on it.

Surprising that CBS still wins awards given, for example, tonight's "Evening News" wherein the focus was loud and spectacular and centered on crime in Chicago - but Chicago isn't even in the top 10 among American cities with the most violent crime!!!

The facts lead the reader - this reader, in particular - to believe an underlying political motive exists: namely, linking this current Administration's political base in Chicago to violent crime as a wedge issue in the "Divide, and conquer." politics of the American right.

Which is despicable - at best.
