CBS NEWS Coverage Of Hurricane Gustav
CBS News will offer comprehensive coverage of Hurricane Gustav as the storm heads towards the Gulf Coast. The following is a summary of coverage plans:
■ CBS EVENING NEWS Anchor and Managing Editor Katie Couric will report from the Gulf Coast beginning Monday, Sept. 1 (6:30-7:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC.
■ CBS News Correspondents Cynthia Bowers, Randall Pinkston, Byron Pitts, Dave Price, Tracy Smith and Hari Sreenivasan will report from the area for all CBS News broadcasts.
■ THE EARLY SHOW's Harry Smith will anchor from the area beginning Monday morning, Sept. 1 (7:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), along with EARLY SHOW Weather Anchor Dave Price.
■ CBS News' live Republican National Convention primetime specials - Monday, Sept. 1 through Thursday, Sept. 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET; check local listings) - will include coverage of both the hurricane and the RNC.
■ Tonight's CBS EVENING NEWS (6:00-6:30 PM, ET) will be anchored by Russ Mitchell from New York, with Bob Schieffer contributing from St. Paul.
