Obama and Romney to appear on "60 Minutes"

(CBS News) The president and his challenger will answer questions on the election's biggest issues on 60 Minutes, America's most watched news broadcast.

Steve Kroft will question President Barack Obama and Scott Pelley will question Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in separate interviews to be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday, Sept. 23 (7:30-8:30 p.m. ET; 7:00-8:00 p.m. PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Obama and Romney will answer similar questions on the topics of critical interest to America's voters, including the economy and jobs, healthcare, national security and the federal budget.

Was very disappointed in 60 minutes tonight. There was no substance or meat to any of the questions people are interested in hearing that they already haven't heard if they are paying attention to the news. The questions were Milquetoast.

Romney is the nominee, not Johnson.

Johnson can run as an independent and try to get in via a last-minute ditch effort, I suppose, but the fake flake known as Ron Paul isn't showing up either... (read his web site and think it through; his site is lacking in details, includes bait and switch headline/articles, and makes other claims that research quickly disproves... and why does the US export gas if we have a problem with energy independence? Uh-oh, independence and free market not going hand in hand?)

60 minutes is a joke these days. Who even cares. All of the good journalists retired or left the show. Nobody asks hard questions. Who gives a rat's buttocks anymore. They've become no better than Fox or Stewart.

60 Minutes needs to go away quietly, or change the name of the program. It's not the show it was, even 10 years ago. It's mostly just a tabloid now, and the bias reeks regardless of what political side you stand on; 60 minutes is no longer journalism, and just an op-ed piece.

60 minutes is as factual as the daily show, or fox news, which is to say, it is just junk. They should have scratched the show after Bergman left, because they sold their soul to corporate media after he finally gave up on dealing with their crap.

1. The press needs to earn money
2. The press does this by putting out articles for people to read
3. Anything that grabs attention will be used, and not always with any thought put behind it because the ratings mean more to them... -- in short, advertisers pay for space the press offers
4. To maximize the profit potential, the press charges more money for articles more likely to be read/seen by many


To expand point 3:

Advertisers raise up the cost of their products in these ads to help compensate for the costs. If you don't like ads, write the company and demand they stop making the ads and then double-demand the cost-savings trickle down to the consumer (and we know that won't happen because their profit margins are more important than the readers/viewers/target markets...)

The press is not "liberal".

It's "capitalist".

As are the advertisers.

Really CBS. Everyone has heard anything Romney and Obama have to say. If you want some ratings you are going to need to interview Gary Johnson. He is the ONLY candidate who will get the people watching your show. It will be another snoozer if you dont. "oh honey, dont forget to set the DVR to record Obama and Romney on 60 Minutes" No one said EVER...

Will CBS ask Obama how the hell he didn't 'precisely' know what the debt is - one of the 'real' and 'huge' national security risk is the debt according to his own administration? He lies about the $1 trillion deficits he inherited and they won't cover this story on their website so why would we expect crapnews to cover it then. Don't waste you time unless you want to see how their plan to help Obama win re-election.

giving taxpayer money to corporations that offshore (to communist countries). This means people in America are out of work as we're shipping jobs overseas. This also means we create a revenue problem because there are fewer working people to tax.

Obama voted 'YES' to repeal the anti-free market corporate handout issue... has anybody ever gotten a notarized response from Romney on that sort of issue? Even then, his record is about backing those who've gutted this country. Obama loves to compromise, but compromise vs outright action - Romney is definitely not the better candidate...

In my state (NC) our ballot will have three choices: Obama, Romney and Gary Johnson. For your show to focus on two of those and completely exclude the third shows a lack of the objectivity that I've always associated with your show. Whatever the reasoning, if you're not covering my candidate, there's really no need for me to tune in.

It certainly would be nice is at least one news station or program were to straight up acknowledge that they are leaving out part of the picture. Obama and Romney are not the only contenders in this race. We will see enough of their blabbing about how different they are (which they aren't) during the partisan presidential debates.

How about giving some time to the other challengers, particularly Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Jill Stein (Green)?

If a Presidential candidate can get on 50 state ballots THE HARD WAY (there only 2 challenges left to resolve) ---> one would think that 60 Minutes would include that VIABLE CANDIDATE in ALL PRESIDENTIAL COVERAGE!

Why are you excluding GARY JOHNSON from this event? He has achieved almost 100% of everything the party system demands - against all odds - only to hit a media shutout. Shut out from TV, shut out from the popular polls, shut out from the debates.

America: the reason you appear to have no choices is because YOU'RE still relying on the UNRELIABLE MEDIA!!

Ask your TV people - like these nice 60 Minute folks, to BE TRUE to you - to give you ALL the news, not just part of it. If they won't, then TURN OFF THE TV!
