60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll: June Edition

• Who should compose a new national anthem?

A new National Anthem? Twenty-two percent of Americans would pick "The Boss" Bruce Springsteen to pen the National Reboot. Next up, Dolly Parton 19 percent, Stevie Wonder 18 percent, Bob Dylan 11 percent, John Williams 10 percent, Jay-Z eight percent and Madonna five percent. How about an all-star collaboration with John Williams composing the music, Stevie and Bob penning the lyrics, Bruce and Dolly on lead vocals and Jay-Z and Madonna backing them up. That's when America is at it's best -- when we join together in common purpose.

LEAVE THE ANTHEM ALONE ! All you have to do is sing it in a slightly (depending on your range) lower key and you will be surprised at the number of people who will be able to sing with you. I know. I have done this. For five of the last six years, I have sung the Anthem at our local Class A ballpark, and at various charity events, just like it was written. Even people who admit to 'not be able to carry a tune in a bucket' remark about being able to sing along. I am a VietNam era vet and am extremely proud of my Flag, my Country, AND its NATIONAL ANTHEM. Let your professionals write their songs, just keep them out of our NATIONAL ANTHEM !

Conceitedness, being a snob, arrogance, pride, selfishness, being scornfully disdainful, no ones better than me attitude, hate anyone not doing there fair share, but do nothing themselves, deceive, can not stand to be mocked type, a fake, a con, a actor, and a good liar, born a spoiled brat or just a brat? The Star Spangled Banner is beautiful and expresses what our Founding Fathers wanted for this country, FREEDOM and the only way to get it, BRAVERY. Freedom isn't for the faint of heart. It thanks and remembers all those who sacrificed so we can be free.

There isn't any need to change our National Anthem. The only change we need where this is concerned are people who respect it and perform it as written. The Anthem is for all to sing and not just some incompetent celebrities. It is not a performance piece.

Exactly klusk66100! Who came up with such a STUPID idea? The people listed as far as who to vote for did not inlcude NONE OF THE ABOVE, as I and many others see NO need or We Don't Need Another anthem..It is part of our national fabric so whomever came up with crazy idea is only out to destroy same.
