"48 Hours" goes one on one with convicted killer Jack McCullough

When 7-year-old Maria Ridulph was abducted and killed in 1957, investigators considered 18-year-old Jack McCullough a suspect, but he had an alibi and passed a lie detector test. Fifty-five years later, McCullough was convicted for that same crime, because of something his mother said on her deathbed.

In his only television interview, McCullough sat down with "48 Hours" correspondent Erin Moriarty for what turned out to be a very candid and sometimes heated discussion about this case.

According to a decades old FBI file on the kidnapping and murder of Maria Ridulph, McCullough may have had an alibi the night that Maria was abducted. But there was other information in that file that made McCullough look bad:

When McCullough was taken in for questioning at the Seattle Police Department, he told investigators that he knew who killed Maria Ridulph, and it came to him in a dream:

I was able to watch the end of the interview with Ms. Moriarty and would simply like to leave the following comment. Absent witnesses, in one on one crimes including, but not limited to, rape and murder only two people know what happened. Further to this only one person really knows why. When Ms. Moriarty asked "Were you convicted of something you didn't do and not convicted of something you did do?" only one person would know the truth in order to answer that correctly. For that same person to say they don't know is simply a lie. To not want to say or otherwise avoid would indicate involvement but would be a less transparent lie. Mr. McCullough/Tessier is the only one who does know. Denying that knowledge is probably the most telling of responses he could have offered. While the law may grind on... it sometimes is in other avenues, such as this interview, that justice is seen.
