Two cases where music is better than any speech

(CBS News) It is said that people are more afraid of public speaking than dying (to which Jerry Seinfeld once made the quip that "you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.") But what if you happen to be a great musician? Well, we have two cases of that to show you starting with the video above. Watch what happens when a wedding speech by the groom gets replaced with an epic song instead. It's a bit long at 14 minutes, but I promise it's well-worth it.

(CBS News) Happy New Year! We're kicking off our very first Friday Music Round-Up of 2013 here on The Feed and want to make sure we start with a bang. Or in this case, maybe a "drop" is more apt. Check out the new video above from a musician who is synonymous with dubstep: Skrillex!

2012 smash viral video group starts strong in 2013

(CBS News) Just like many of you, I've got a few New Year's resolutions that I've made for 2013. Working out more and eating healthier are without a doubt on the list. Does it still count if it's really, really good...?

A musical tribute to the Higgs boson and science

(CBS News) It's been a while since we last checked in on one of our favorite media-turned-into-music maestros, John D. Boswell (aka melodysheep). And it seems since last we touched base, he has created a wonderful tribute to the Higgs boson and science with the video above.

Three very unusual music covers and instruments

(CBS News) In honor of the new year and new beginnings, take a look at three unusual takes on popular songs and instruments. This first video above goes to show that a true musician can make music anywhere and on anything. Despite his unusual choice of the laundry machine as an instrument, this gifted 10-year-old, who has apparently only been taking lessons for a year, is still a better drummer than most twice his age would be with an actual drum set.

Friday Music Round-up: Hot tracks for winter

Happy winter solstice! It's the shortest day of the year, and for much of the country, the weather can only be described as frightful. (Or at least frightfully cold!) But never fear, The Feed is here to keep you warm during these long nights with some of the hottest tracks of the past few days. Up first is a blistering a capella medley from Pentatonix. This quintet of talented vocalists blazes through a medley of classic NSYNC songs in just under four minutes. With the material Pentatonix is working with, you can expect the tunes to be catchy. But it's the excellent a capella arrangements that really make this video stand out.

(CBS News) It's a simple equation: "Beatbox + iPhone + Guitar + Fast Rap = Win!" Musician Mac Lethal only needs three tools (his phone, his guitar, his voice) to craft this impressive song about living in the world today. But it's more than just a gimmick; there is real heart in these lyrics. Take a listen.
