Freerunning to make your day a lot easier and fun
(CBS News) Do you ever have those days where there's not enough time to get everything done and you are running non-stop? I'm sure we've all been there before, and it's never pleasant. But maybe you'd be able to successfully get through it and manage to have some fun if you were free-running instead... I think you know where this is going, so click play to check it out.
Continue »Truly priceless reaction from expectant grandparents
(CBS News) I imagine learning you're about to become a grandmother is an emotional moment. But for some, it appears to be much more emotional than others. Expectant parents, Ashley and Michael, tell soon-to-be grandparents, Carl and Hope, about the upcoming bundle of joy above, and their reaction is absolutely amazing. One tip before watching (and spoiler): if you're listening with headphones, you may want to turn down the volume a bit or risk a nasty case of tinnitus.
Continue »The Mario theme song played on a human piano
(CBS News) You know how it is. You want to learn how to play an instrument, but it's apparently a "skill" that takes "hard work" and "effort." No one has time for that! Instead, have you considered just stopping hundreds of people on the street, filming each one singing a single note and then editing the resulting footage into a cohesive melody transforming them into some kind of fleshy human piano?
Continue »Cases of unexpected music (with sea lion and saxes)
(CBS News) If you look for it, you can find music just about anywhere. From the tick of a clock to the waves at a dock, if you add in a dash of imagination and sprinkle of whimsical, you can be bobbing your head in no time. (Not to be confused with the common herb "thyme" used in real recipes, and props go out to the beloved Dr. Seuss for inspiring me!) Which has absolutely nothing to do with our video above of a very talented sea lion, with the exception of his amazing ability to bob his head to the beat of music. Go ahead and click play to check it out.
Continue »High school students do single-take, music mashup
(CBS News) Seeing as it's my birthday today (a point that may or may not come up a few times), I feel like having some music up on The Feed today. Which is why I was so happy when I came across this epic, single-take, music mashup performed by a very creative group of high school students. It's a bit longer than our norm, coming in at just under eight minutes, but it's well worth it (and you can always skip around). I can't stress enough: you really need to watch this one!
Continue »Watch two men aged 94 and 95 compete in a sprint
(CBS News) Today happens to be your blogger's birthday. (The best present you could give me would be to tell all your friends about The Feed!) And I have this theory that after a certain point in your 20s, with the exception of significant milestones, the whole birthday thing tends to hold less sway, and really just reminds you that you're getting a bit older each year. Which seems less terrible after watching these two men, aged 94 and 95, compete against each another in a 60-meter sprint above. Who will win in this battle between old and, err, slightly older? Watch and see!
Continue »Passion Pit rocks with new music video (and bonus)
(CBS News) Each week I try to hold off on posting great music up until the Friday Music Round-Up, and I usually break down by Tuesday. But I've made it all the way to Wednesday afternoon, which calls for a celebration. So, uh, how about some great music to mark the occasion? Check out the brand-new and amazing music video for Passion Pit's song "Cry Like A Ghost" above.
Continue »Teen boy asks girl to prom through Jason Mraz song
(CBS News) I wish I'd known back in high school that if you're going to successfully ask your crush to the prom, the best approach is through an epic video or the use of song. Watch this teen boy ask a girl named Sophia to prom through a clever variation of Jason Mraz's song "I'm Yours".
Continue »Two incredible ski jumps (for price of one post)
(CBS News) We're having a special today on ski jumps: for the price of viewing this one post, you get two incredible and very different feats! We start off with a singular experience in the form of the first-person perspective video above that first shows the high-flying moment from the front and then the back at 42 seconds (sadly, not side-to-side). I'd recommend watching in high-definition (and possibly with a fan blowing on your face) to vicariously experience it for yourself.
Continue »Slick BMX skills on display in super slow-motion
(CBS News) I've got something of a riddle for you with this post: Do you know what's better than watching an amazing display of talent and skill on a BMX bike? Watching it in super slow-motion and super high-definition, that's what! Watch it unfold very, very slowly above.
