Officer slain in Texas Walmart shooting identified

(CBS/AP) AUSTIN, Texas - Austin police have identified an officer shot and killed early Friday at a Texas Walmart as Senior Police Officer Jaime Padron.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said Padron, who has two daughters, ages 10 and six, was shot in the neck and died at the scene.

(CBS/CBS Miami) FT. LAUDERDALE - Oneal Ron Morris, the purported fake doctor who allegedly injected items like fix-a-flat into patients' rear ends, sent a written plea of not guilty to a Broward County judge on Thursday.

According to CBS Miami, Morris was to be arraigned in court on charges of medical wrongdoing, but her lawyer instead entered the written plea on her behalf.

(CBS/AP) GREAT BEND, Kan. - Jurors have begun deliberating in the capital murder trial of  Adam Longoria, who is accused of killing 14-year-old cheerleader Alicia DeBolt. DeBolt's badly burned body was found at the asphalt plant where the suspect worked.

(CBS/AP) SEATTLE - A 9-year-old Washington boy accused of bringing a gun to a Bremerton elementary school and injuring a classmate when it accidentally discharged, has written a letter of apology to the victim.

He sent the court-mandated letter to third-grader Amina Kocer-Bowman, who was badly injured in the Feb. 22 shooting, reports local station KOMO.
