"Kick a Ginger" Middle School Beating Inspired by South Park?

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Police in Southern California say an attack Friday on a redheaded middle school student may have been inspired by an episode of "South Park."

Authorities say a 12-year-old boy was assaulted by a group of middle school classmates in Calabasas who may have targeted him after an Internet posting urged students to beat up redheads.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Richard Erickson says the boy, who has red hair and freckles, was kicked and hit in two incidents Friday at A.E. Wright Middle School in Calabasas. As many as 14 students participated in the attacks.

When Shaniya Davis, 5, was reported missing in North Carolina on November 10, 2009, suspicion turned to a man described as her mother's boyfriend. But he was let go, and police targeted another man spotted on hotel surveillance footage holding the child. Then, authorities arrested the girl's mother and accused her of offering her daughter for prostitution, hoping Shaniya was still alive, but fearing the worst.

The arrests offered a glimmer of hope Shaniya would be found alive. But on Monday Nov. 16, searchers discovered the girl's body off a rural road, nearly a week after her mother reported her missing from a mobile home park in Fayetteville, N.C.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (CBS/AP) Alyssa Bustamante, the 15-year-old accused of killing her 9-year-old neighbor Elizabeth Olten, was sent to a mental hospital after her lawyer said she showed signs of severe depression and anxiety.

NEW YORK (CBS) Meter reader Roy Kronk, who was hailed as a hero for finding the body of murdered Florida 2-year-old Caylee Anthony, was really the girl's killer, according to new claims by defense attorneys representing the toddler's mother, Casey Anthony.

Casey Anthony is awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges for her daughter's death. She's pleaded not guilty and has previously said a babysitter kidnapped her child.

PARIS (CBS/AP) Daul Kim, a top model who graced Fashion Week runways from New York to Milan, has been found hanged in her Paris apartment, a police official said Friday.
The 20-year-old South Korean stunner was known for her thick mane of hair - sometimes dyed blond - and her quirky sensibility.

The 5-foot-10 model has strutted the runway for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, and Dolce & Gabbana.

Miley Cyrus Tour Bus Crash: One Dead, Singer Not on Board

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, VA (WTVR) Virginia State Police (VSP) have held a news briefing to provide details on this morning's crash involving a tour bus for singer Miley Cyrus.

The accident happened on I-85 south near mile marker 56 in Dinwiddie County, about 45-minutes south of Richmond, Va. Police said 10 people were on board the bus when it went off the road and overturned. The singer was not on board and is not at the scene of the accident.

Loaded Lugar: Senator's Wife, Charlene Lugar, Charged for Drunken Hit-and-Run

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Charlene Lugar, wife of U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., has been charged with drunken driving and hit-and-run after hitting a parked car in northern Virginia.

Fairfax County Police say an officer stopped 76-year-old Charlene Lugar Wednesday evening at a McLean intersection after seeing damage to her car and smoke coming from the hood. Police later determined that she hit an unattended parked car about two miles away.
