AMSTERDAM (AP) The Dutch marked the fifth anniversary Monday of the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a Muslim fanatic, a brutal killing that incited anti-Muslim anger and continues to shape politics in the Netherlands.
Van Gogh, a distant relative of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh, was shot and stabbed on an Amsterdam street Nov. 2, 2004, setting off a spate of mosque burnings in a country once renowned for its tolerance.

"Too Westernized" Girl Dies after Father Runs Her Over in Honor Killing, Say Police

PHOENIX (CBS/AP) Twenty-year-old Noor Faleh Almaleki's fight for life ended Monday despite emergency spinal surgery and doctors' desperate two week effort to save her life while she lay in a coma.
Police say her father, Iraqi immigrant Faleh Hassan Almaleki, ran her over Oct. 20 in a parking lot in a Phoenix suburb because he felt she had become "too Westernized." He also ran over her boyfriend's mother Amal Khalaf. She is expected to survive.

Nun Murdered on Halloween; FBI Searches Navajo Reservation for Clues to Marguerite Bartz's Killer

NAVAJO, N.M. (CBS/AP) It was the day after Halloween in a small community on the Navajo Indian reservation near the Arizona-New Mexico border and Sister Marguerite Bartz failed to show up to Sunday Mass.
A colleague went to check on her and discovered the 64-year-old nun dead in her residence, the FBI said Monday.

Infant Shannon Dedrick Missing from Florida Panhandle Home

CHIPLEY, Fla.(CBS/AP) Shannon Dedrick, a 7-month-old infant has gone missing from her home in Chipley, a small town on the Florida Panhandle.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Dedrick disappeared sometime between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Alex Mercado, Missing 4-Year-Old Fresno Boy, Found Dead in Dryer

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) The body of Alex Christopher Mercado, a missing 4-year-old California boy, was found in the clothes dryer of a neighbor's home and a 14-year-old boy who lived in the neighbor's Mendota, Calif., house has been arrested on suspicion of the killing, police say.
Mercado's body was found Saturday, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said. According to Mims, the boy was placed in the dryer after he was killed.

Police Charge Iraqi Father Who Allegedly Ran Over "Westernized" Daughter

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) An Iraqi immigrant who gave authorities the run-around after he allegedly ran over his daughter with a Jeep because she was becoming too "Westernized," was charged Saturday with aggravated assault in Arizona.
Faleh Almaleki was arrested Thursday when he arrived at Atlanta's airport from England, after authorities there denied him entry. He was ultimately returned to the Phoenix-area city of Peoria, booked and taken to a county jail.
