NEW YORK (CBS) Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer, the stars of the popular CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men," have not been having good luck with the ladies as of late.

In December, Sheen spent part of Christmas in jail after being arrested in Aspen for allegedly threatening to kill his wife, Brooke Mueller, with a knife.

Preacher Matt Baker Guilty of Killing Wife; Could Get Life In Prison as Jury Hears New Sex Evidence

WACO, Texas (CBS/AP) After convicting ex-pastor Matt Baker of murdering his wife, jurors will hear new evidence - possibly about sexual advances toward other women - as the punishment phase begins today.

The 38-year-old former Texas minister faces up to life in prison for drugging and suffocating his wife, Kari, then faking her suicide note in 2006. Jurors deliberated more than seven hours before finding him guilty late Wednesday.

APPOMATTOX, Va. (CBS/AP) The eight victims of suspected gunman Christopher Bryan Speight's rampage in rural Virginia included three teenagers and a 4-year-old child whom he knew, police said Wednesday.

The 39-year-old security guard surrendered to authorities at daybreak after leading police on an 18-hour manhunt following the slayings at a house in central Virginia where deputies found a mortally wounded man on the road and seven bodies in or near the house.

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (CBS) John Freshwater may not believe in evolution, but the Ohio middle school teacher accused of teaching that gays are sinners and burning crosses into students' arms, is on the verge of being naturally selected out of the classroom.

Freshwater, a Mount Vernon Middle School science teacher, admits burning the students but says it wasn't part of any religious statement, but part of a science experiment he had done a hundred times in his 21 years of teaching, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS/WKMG) Casey Anthony, the Orlando mother who insists she didn't murder her 2-year-old daughter, may be prepared to admit to some financial finagling -- allegations of check fraud. That case against her, involving a former friend, has been delayed, signaling a possible plea deal.

Aveion Lewis, "Kidnapped" Toddler, Now Presumed Dead; Stepdad Charged as Police Search for Body

ROANOKE, Va. (CBS/WDBJ/AP) Virginia police are now searching for the body of 2-year-old Aveion Lewis, after his stepfather allegedly admitted the boy is dead and the 911 call he made claiming the toddler was abducted was a hoax.

Last Thursday, Brandon Lockett told Virginia police that three men invaded his home, knocked him unconscious, kidnapped Aveion Lewis, tied up Lewis' sister and left a ransom note demanding $10,000.

RICHMOND, Calif. (CBS/AP) A seventh suspect has been arrested in the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl outside a Richmond High School homecoming dance, during which others watched, laughed, and took cell phone pictures of the attack.

Richmond, Calif. police Sgt. Bisa French said 43-year-old John Crane Jr. walked into the police station and turned himself in without incident Tuesday evening. He was being held on $100, 000 bail on suspicion of felony sexual assault.

LIBERAL, Kan. (CBS/AP) It was like something out of the "Texas Chainsaw Murders." A Kansas man suffocated his wife before cutting his own legs off with an electric saw and bleeding to death, say police.

Police in Liberal, Kan., just west of Kansas City, were responding to a missing persons report Jan. 13 when they came upon the gruesome scene - Jose Angel Rodriguez and his wife lay side by side on their bed. She was covered by a comforter. He was covered with blood.

WACO, Texas (CBS) Young, blonde, and beautiful, Vanessa Bulls, the 27-year-old former mistress of a minister on trial for killing his wife had one simple message for the jury: He did it.

Bulls is the star witness at the murder trial of her former lover, Matt Baker, the Texas preacher who prosecutors say drugged his wife, handcuffed her to the bed under the guise of spicing up their marriage, then smothered her with a pillow until she died in 2006.
