AUSTIN, Texas (CBS) Samantha Bell, the daughter of Joe Stack, who crashed his plane into an office building in Austin as a protest against the IRS, has proclaimed her father a hero, but the family of the man killed in the attack, Vernon Hunter, says she's got it backwards.

Hit and Run Hero: Bloomberg Staffer Erinn Phelan Sacrifices Life to Save Friend

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Erinn Phelan is being heralded as a selfless hero after pushing her former college roommate, Alma Guerrero, out of the way of a speeding car in Brooklyn, NY, and ending up on life support for her efforts.

Police say that the women were walking in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Prospect Heights at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when a speeding Acura hit them and kept on going.

"Jersey Shore" Alleged Fight Victim Wants Season One DVD Banned

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (CBS/AP) Stephen Izzo Jr., who claims he was assaulted by Ronnie Ortiz-Magro during an episode of MTV's "Jersey Shore," is asking a judge to stop the distribution of the season one DVD set.

The alleged victim's attorney, Eugene LaVergne, says Ortiz-Magro should not profit from his criminal conduct. The reality TV cast member was charged with aggravated assault. LaVergne told the Asbury Park Press he wants an order stopping Ortiz from receiving payments for his role in the show.

OXNARD, Calif. (CBS/AP) Dave Laut was the toast of his town after scoring a bronze medal for shot-put at the 1984 Summer Olympics.

So when the 52-year-old Olympian was gunned down in his backyard in August by a possible prowler, hundreds of people paid homage at a memorial service where he was described as a gentle giant.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (CBS/AP) A fan watching the NHRA's Arizona National's auto race was killed Sunday after driver Antron Brown's tire flew off of his dragster and hit her.

During a first-round Top Fuel run at Firebird International Raceway, about 30 minutes outside of Phoenix, Brown's Matco Tools/U.S. Army dragster went out of control and crashed, causing his left rear wheel to come off. An unidentified fan who was watching the race from a mobility scooter was hit by the tire and airlifted to a hospital for treatment, where she later died.

Jamere Holland's Facebook Page Is Pretty Dumb, But Keeping it Public is Even Dumber

EUGENE, Ore. (CBS/AP) Oregon football player Jamere Holland probably wishes he could take it back, but a series of angry Facebook posts (yes some of it still viewable), including one that was racially charged, may have led to his dismissal from the Oregon Ducks.

"I wish I could block whites as friends and only have blacks LOL, cause apparently I'm misunderstood," Holland wrote, according to the Associated Press.

Oregon coach Chip Kelly announced Sunday he had dismissed Jamere Holland from the team for violating team rules but when asked by The Oregonian if the violation was related to Holland's Facebook post on Saturday, the coach said: "I won't get into the specifics, but you're smart enough to figure it out."

"Flavor of Love's" Hotlanta Arrested for Alleged Violent Act with a Child

NEW YORK (CBS) "Flavor of Love" reality show contestant Hotlanta isn't looking so hot in her mugshot after allegedly committing an unspecified violent act involving a child, according to E! Online.

The 29-year-old, also known as Nikky Jamz or Nicole Essignman, is a mother of three, a dentist's assistant and a fame seeker, who appeared on VH1's "Flavor of Love," a dating show in which people compete for the affections of rap star "Flavor Flav."

The Cobb County Sheriff's Office told E! that on Jan. 30 Essignman was arrested in Atlanta on two counts of simple battery and one count of cruelty to children.
