SAN DIEGO (CBS/AP) Investigators suspect a major drug cartel was the driving force behind two long, sophisticated tunnels connecting Mexico with the U.S. that were discovered this month along with more than 40 tons of marijuana.
Authorities said an underground passage located Thursday was similar to one found earlier - both spanning about 2,000 feet from Mexico to San Diego and equipped with lighting, ventilation, and a rail system for drugs to be carried on a small cart.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (CBS/AP) A man who Australian media dubbed the "honeymoon killer" for allegedly drowning his wife of just 11 days during a scuba dive in 2003, now faces more serious charges in Alabama after serving 18 months in an Australian prison.
Attorney General Troy King said 33-year-old Gabe Watson, an Alabama native, was indicted by an Alabama grand jury on capital murder in the course of kidnapping, and capital murder for pecuniary gain in the scuba diving death of his 26-year-old wife, Tina Watson.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (CBS/KVAL/AP) Anger over a Somali-born teen's failed plan to blow up a van full of explosives during Portland's Christmas tree lighting ceremony erupted in arson on Sunday when a fire damaged an Islamic center frequented by the suspect, authorities said.
Police don't know who started the blaze or exactly why, but they believe the Islamic center in Corvallis was targeted because terror suspect Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, occasionally worshipped there.
