Matthew Hoffman Pleads Guilty, Gets Life

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (CBS/WBNS) Matthew Hoffman pleaded guilty Thursday to killing three people in Ohio and to all the other charges against him.
Authorities said Hoffman killed and dismembered Tina Herrmann, 32, her
son, Kody, 11, and a family friend, Stephanie Sprang, 41.

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS/AP) The hits just keep on coming for the defense team behind Casey Anthony, charged with the 2008 capital murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, after one of her lawyers, Jose Baez, was slapped with a $583.73 fine for failing to turn over information about expert witnesses.
The judge in the central Florida case also denied a request to view a blogger's photos, calling it "fishing."

PEARL, Miss. (CBS/AP) Two Mississippi women, dubbed the "Kidney Sisters" after their life sentences were suspended on the condition that one donate a kidney to the other, were released from prison on Friday after serving 16 years for an armed robbery.
Jamie and Gladys Scott waved to reporters and yelled "we're free" and "God bless y'all" as they left the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in an SUV.

(CBS/AP) The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department has long objected to allowing the Northern California couple charged with kidnapping Jaycee Dugard and holding her captive for 18 years to speak on the phone once a month, and now they say their suspicions about Phillip and Nancy Garrido have been confirmed.

MCALESTER, Okla. (CBS/AP) Billy Don Alverson, the Oklahoma death row inmate convicted in the 1995 killing of a convenience store worker, was executed by lethal injection Thursday evening by the state of Oklahoma.
It was the first execution conducted in the U.S. this year.
