Kim Peno Went off Meds and Beat Her Child to Death, Say Police

REHOBOTH, Mass. (CBS/AP) Kim Peno, a 38-year-old mother charged with beating her 2-year-old son to death, apparently has a history of mental illness, and reportedly had been off her medication for two weeks before the alleged fatal beating on Friday, said CBS affiliate WBZ.

Peno pleaded not guilty to the charges on Monday, and asked a judge to allow her to attend her son's funeral. The judge turned down her request.

Guilty: Mohammad Hanafi Kidnapped, Forced Wife to Sign Divorce Papers

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) Mohammad Hanafi was convicted Friday of kidnapping his wife and holding her captive until she signed divorce papers.

Hanafi, from Hawthorne, in Los Angeles County, was found guilty of kidnapping his wife Raisa Hanafi in 2008. He was also convicted of threatening to kill her.

Attention Wal-Mart Customers: 16-Year-Old Arrested for Racist Announcement

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS/AP) The boy who allegedly made the announcement, "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people leave the store now," was arrested Friday and released to his parents. He is charged with harassment and bias intimidation.

The 16-year-old boy, whose name is not being released because of his age, allegedly picked up one of the courtesy phones at a Wal-Mart in Washington Township, New Jersey, on March 14, and made the racist announcement that caused quite a bit of outrage in the store.

Mohammad Hanafi Beat, Drugged, Tasered Wife, Until She Signed Divorce Papers, Prosecutors Say

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) A Hawthorne man who allegedly bound, drugged, beat and tasered his wife until she signed divorce papers could face life in prison if convicted.

Jurors began deliberating Thursday in Mohammad Hanafi's attempted murder trial. The Superior Court jury will decide whether to convict the 58-year-old of torturing his estranged wife, Raisa Hanafi, in 2008.
