Study Justifies Attacks On Oil Facilities Even if Harmful to Muslims

(Ctr. Islamic Studies and Research)
While recognizing that jihadi attacks on oil installations, pots and companies would have negative effects on Muslims, including foreign occupation of their countries, a 63-page study by the Centre for the Islamic Studies and Research recommended that such attacks be carried out with a special focus on oil wells, since it takes a long time to fix them.

The study, entitled: "The Ruling Of Targeting Oil Installations, and the Provisions of Economic Jihad" was written by Shaykh Abdel Aziz Ben Rashid al Anzy. Al Anzy was an al Qaeda webmaster and a member of the group's Islamic law committee in Saudi Arabia. He was arrested following clashes with Saudi security services in Riyadh in 2005.

The study tackles the religious imperatives of the so-called "economic jihad" with a special focus on oil installations and facilities. The author argues that in spite of the harm that such attacks might cause to Muslims, they were still worth carrying out.

How Do Jihadis Imagine Their Emir?

( )
Despite confirmation by the Iraqi defense ministry, members of militant Islamist Internet forums are in denial over news about the arrest of the leader of the al Qaeda-led Islamic State of Iraq. Abu Omar al Baghdadi.

There are many on the online forums who seem certain that al Baghdadi hasn't been arrested and recall the number of times when false reports emerged about his arrest or killing in th epast.

The picture of al Baghdadi unveiled by Iraqi military spokesperson Major General Qassim Atta at a press conference in Baghdad on Tuesday has aroused their suspicions even more, as it doesn't seem to fit the image they had in their minds of what their "emir" (prince) should look like.

"Is this his picture?! This picture only proves they're lying!" one member said. Another added "This guy in the picture here, just from his looks, he couldn't even lift a Kalashnikov up, I'm telling ya!" "Al Baghdadi is over 60. There's no way this man is over 60," said a third member.

Since many seem persuaded that the man that was arrested couldn't be al Baghdadi, there's anticipation for the next audio statement by al Baghdadi. Members urged al Furqan media to speed up its release.

"Let's Give Tourists a Warm Jihadi Welcome," Suggests Member Jihadi Forum

A member of al Falojah jihadi blog called on militants to strike against tourists visiting their countries during the coming summer holidays. "You all know that the economy in some Muslim countries, such as Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco, relies mainly on tourism. By weakening this vital sector, we would deal a real blow to these countries' economies," the user, who used the name Moheb Abu Bakar, said.

He also called on fellow forum members to launch an online media campaign to warn tourists against the consequences of visiting Muslim countries. "And if they don't listen we would kill a tourist who is a citizen of a country that is part of the countries fighting us, and take his money as booty," the man suggested.

He them gave some advice about how to carry out this plan in five steps from tracking down the tourists and until killing them. "You must carefully choose the timing and the location in order to guarantee the success of the operation. You must maintain secrecy of the whole operations before and after it has taken place," he wrote.

Many members of the forum hailed Abu Bakr's idea. One member howver argued that this would harm Muslims just as much as it would harm their governments. He was scolded by other members and labeled an "agent of the Crusaders."

A third member called Hameed joined the discussion, addressing a few question regarding some of the material needed, and then finally told the others that he will try to carry out the experiment and would let them know if he was successful.

War of the Jihadi Blogs!

It's common to hear of cyber attacks being carried out by security agencies or Western hackers to rid the web of the jihadi Internet forums. However this time, jihadi hackers from one website attacked another jihadi website, al- Medad, and defaced its main page with a statement explaining why they took down the website.

Al Medad website often carried direct links to the latest speeches of al Qaeda leaders or the latest attack videos from Iraq. The home page now is a black page with al Qaeda's banner on top and a message saying "this website has been hijacked by 'Mighty Sword' and 'Mujahid Pen.'"

The two hackers accused al Medad's webmaster, a man called Mehdar, of posing as a jihad supporter, running a jihadi website, while being a Shiite who secretly conspired against the mujaheddin.

To prove their point, they posted two audio files, one with the voice of Mehdar eulogizing slain al Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Musaab al Zarqawi, and another one with the voice of a Shiite man who often attacks the mujahideen in the Shiite paltalk rooms. They claimed that the voices on both tapes were identical.
