Video Shows Taliban Militants Downing U.S. Chinook

A video posted on the Internet on Monday showed pictures of a missile fired by Taliban militants hitting a Chinook helicopter that hovered in the skies.

The video shows the moment when the missile hits the helicopter and the large flame that spurted out of it from various angles. The video then showed pictures of columns of dark smoke rising from what is thought to be the Chinook, though the video did not include any pictures showing the plane as it crashed. Later on in the video, a helicopter is seen flying really low and lifting some of the soldiers who had been injured in the attack.

The Taliban commander in charge of the Kunar area, Mufti Anwar, was seen making a statement where he pledged to carry out more attacks against U.S. forces. The video then showed aftermath pictures of the attack on a U.S. military convoy with shots of a Humvee and a truck both set alight.

The militants were also shown testing some U.S. weapons that they seized during the attack.

The video closed with shots of an attack on what the group called a "crusaders' base" where the militants used RPGs and BK antiaircraft guns.

The 37-minute video was released by the militant Islamist media house Nida al Jihad.

Pictures from this video have been aired on al Arabiya Arab news channel last Wednesday.

Taliban Behead Two Pakistani Spies In New Video

Taliban Pakistan released an eight-minute video showing gruesome pictures of the beheading of two men accused of collaborating with "crusader forces."

The video opened with a shot of a black banner reading "Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Swat…Either Shari'a or Martyrdom," which was followed by the graphic pictures of the beheadings.

Taliban Claims Attacks on NATO Supply Trucks

The militant Afghani Taliban movement posted three statements on the Internet Thursday claiming a series of attacks against NATO trucks in the Afghani cities of Kandahar, Loghman and Ghazni.

In the Kandoalo srai area of Kandahar city, the group said it destroyed six American supply vehicles at 3:20am.

On the Kabul-Jalalabad road, known to be one of the Taliban's most used spots to ambush supply trucks, two trucks carrying two Humvees have been set alight.

In the area of Sarki Kheil, the group claimed destroying two trucks and other army vehicles on the Kabul-Kandhar road. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said "columns of smoke were still rising from the burning trucks" at the time this statement was posted online.

Taliban Angered By U.S. Plan To Crack Down On Jihadi Online Outlets

The militant Afghani movement the Taliban defiantly announced that none of its websites will be shut down. The statement issued by the group Tuesday came in reaction to an article in the Wall Street Journal which quoted sources in the Pentagon as saying that Internet sites attributed to the Taliban would soon be shut down.

"The Americans, for the past four to five years, have exerted continuous efforts to silence and foil those websites and radio stations that they say they wish to close down now…this is not new," said the statement.

In the statement - entitled "Why Do Americans Shut Down Jihadi Websites?" - the group also tried to address the issue from the angler of freedom of expression. It argued that the U.S. has launched hundreds of radio and television stations and thousands of publications throughout the country to spread "false and evil propaganda" against the Taliban.

"World organizations which claim to uphold the freedom of expression, should condemn or foil this inadmissible American effort or at least seriously denounce it if they are really committed to their slogans," the statement said.

Taliban Continues to Target U.S. Supply Convoys

The militant Afghan movement the Taliban claimed in an online statement that its militants launched an attack on a convoy of U.S. supply trucks and completely destroyed five convoys on Sunday on the Jalalabad Highway east of the capital Kabul. The group said that they seized the truck drivers for further questioning in what has become routine procedure to gather more information on NATO supply routes.

Neda al Jihad Release Afghanistan Compilation Video

A militant Islamist Pashto video entitled "Punishing the Transgressors" was released on several websites Friday by a Taliban media outlet called Neda al Jihad. The one-hour video includes speeches by Afghan Jihadi leaders such as Taliban leader Sheikh Mohammed Yassir and Doust Mohammed, a Nuristan commander.

Although the video includes some previously unseen footage, it appears to be an old tape as Taliban's former information minister Mohammed Yassir was apparently still in Afghan custody when his statement was filmed.

He was released along with four other Taliban leaders in exchange for the release of an Italian reporter that the Taliban captured in 2007. There was also footage from a video released last year showing a U.S. foot patrol ambushed by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.

The video also includes footage from a training camp, and from a religious school attended by the some militants. It also showed an attack on a military outpost along with aftermath pictures showing some weapons, food and drinks left behind by fleeing troops.

The video closes with pictures of some of the "martyrs" without giving explanation how they were killed. Some of them looked as young as 9 or 10 years old.

The militant Afghani Taliban movement released a video showing the "confessions" of three Afghans who allegedly abetted the U.S. army in pinpointing the hideout of senior al Qaeda leader Abu Layth al Libi in Waziristan. Al Libi was killed in a drone attack in late January 2008.

Taliban Video Shows Teenage Suicide Bomber in Attack on Information Ministry

The suicide bomber in a Taliban attack on the Afghan information ministry in Kabul last October was shown in a video released by the group and looked like he was no more than15 years old.

The one hour and eight minutes video seemed to have been filmed from a building opposite the ministry of information. It showed a lone gunman, looking hesitant and walking towards the entrance of the ministry building. At one point he stops, takes a step back as if to turn around and go back where he came from, but ends up walking towards the ministry.

He is seen taking a gun out of his pocket and firing at the guards sitting inside the security shack outside the ministry, before running into the building.

Afghan security guards stood behind the shack, looking terrified and confused. Seconds later, a big explosion is heard and columns of smoke were seen rising from the building.

The video included aftermath footage from local television stations showing the damaged site of the ministry building.

The video then showed pictures of the perpetrator, who was shown dressed in a military uniform and carrying an AK47 at a training camp.

Voice of Islam Video Pays Tribute To Turkistani

The media wing of the Islamic Turkistani Party released a new 66-minute video paying tribute to the slain leader of the Islamic Turkistani party Hassan Makhdum, who is known Abu Mohammed al Turkistani.

The video includes a biography of Turkistani and various shots showing him running a training camp for a group of militants in Waziristan, giving religious lectures and taking part in operations.

Turkistani was killed along with a senior al Qaeda commander Ahmad Saeed Khadr in an attack on a training camp in Wana, Pakistan on October 2nd, 2003.

Taliban Tell Obama To Reconsider His Afghanistan Strategy


The militant Afghani Taliban movement advised U.S. President Barack Obama to reconsider his Afghanistan strategy and work on withdrawing his troops from the country as soon as possible.

The request came in an article published Wednesday in the 34th issue of the group's online magazine Somood. According to the author who was identified as Ikram Miundi, Obama got carried away with promises he made during his electoral campaign. Mundi argued that it was now time to bring some reason into what the U.S. should be doing in Iraq.

The author called Obama's wish to restore the reputation of the U.S. which was tarnished by former U.S. President George W. Bush, withdraw from Iraq, defeat the Taliban, abolish al Qaeda and improve relations with the Muslim world were "nothing but the wishes of a drunken man chasing after the presidency and wasn't really realizing what he was saying."

He finally advised President Obama to leave Afghanistan and said it was the only option he's got left. "Ending the occupation and leaving Afghanistan to its people might seem like a difficult choice for the enemy of God and the enemy of Muslims Obama, but it's the only choice he's got left."

The magazine also included an interview with Taliban's commander in Semngan, who talked about the operations undertaken by his men against NATO forces and expressed his optimism that next year will be a year of great victory for the militants.

There was also an announcement that the Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar has issued a decree appointing Mufti Abdel Hakim Ben Mulavi Hamad as the head of the Taliban's Economic Committee, tasked with raising donations and funds for the Taliban.

There was also an article that criticized the charges placed against Sudanese President Omar al Bashir and which compared him to President Bush and Prime Minister Olmert, who according to the article are a lot more criminal than the Sudanese leader.


Al Qaeda Chief in Afghanistan Issues Grim Warning To India

The leader of al Qaeda in Afghanistan Mustafa Abul Yazid, warned of devastating attacks against India in case of any transgressions against the Muslim people of Pakistan. Abu Yazid said India would "pay a hefty price for such transgression."

"We would mobilize the entire Muslim world with its mujahideen, and strike against your interests everywhere, until you collapse and become bankrupt, the same way America is collapsing and becoming bankrupt today," he added.

Abul Yazid had opened his message by offering his sympathy to Palestinians for the loss of lives and the devastation that was caused by the Israeli aggression on Gaza, saying that al Qaeda would fight the Zionists alongside Palestinians if they could cross the borders and get to Palestine.

Taliban Denies Kabul Attack Was Planned in Pakistan

The militant Afghan Taliban movement denied in an Internet statement that the attack against the Afghan ministry of Justice had been plotted in Pakistan as an Afghani intelligence official had claimed. The statement was signed by the group's spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, who said that the operation had been planned inside Afghanistan and was carried out by Afghan fighters from the Alhamza Mayeterdom Kandak Battalion.

"None of those taking part in this operation have been detained or martyred. The perpetrators of the operation returned safely and are now preparing for more attacks," Mujahid said, adding that the Taliban would very soon prove this argument with yet another striking operation.

Mulla Omar Denies Endorsing Peace Talks

In an Internet statement posted on the militant Afghani Taliban group's website, Taliban leader Mullah Omar denied media reports suggesting that he has given the green light for peace talks with the Afghani President Hamid Karzai's government under Saudi auspices.

"I have not sent, nor received any letters from the Saudi monarch King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz," said the letter, "all what's been published in this regard is nothing but baseless rumors."

The Sunday Times had recently reported that Mullah Omar has approved Saudi-sponsored talks with the Afghan government and dispatched a number of his aides to attend peace negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

The paper had quoted one of the mediators, Abdullah Anas, as saying, "Mullah Omar has given the green light to talks, a big, big step has happened, for the first time, there is a language of peace on both sides." Anas is an Algerian militant Islamist and a former friend of Osama bin Laden who fought against the Soviets in Afghanistan. He is now has a political asylum status in the U.K.

Taliban Claim "Poisoning" Police Chief in Delaram

The militant Afghani Taliban movement claimed in an Internet statement that it had killed the police chief of the Delaram district in Afghanistan's western Farah province, called Rahmatullah Khan, by placing a poisonous substance in his room. They group also claimed that Afghani authorities had acknowledged that.

Taliban Bomb-Making Workshop Shown in New Compilation Video

A new video released by the militant Afghani Taliban included footage of a bomb-making workshop, where men were seen busily preparing the explosives to be used in a suicide attack.

The one-hour video is a compilation tape that shows some of the group's operations carried out in recent months. It is entitled "Field of Jihad" and includes footage of three suicide operations.

As in other similar propaganda video, the group included footages of the explosives in the cars before the attack, the suicide bomber saying his goodbyes and the attack itself. However, in the three attacks the cameraman always missed or left the camera out of frame at the moment of the explosion.

The video also included footage of the militants using two bulldozers to demolish a military outpost, as well as some night shots of a group of militants firing rockets.

The video, which according to the group was produced in December 2008, closed with a group of Taliban fighters just driving around a pick up truck, then resting in an orchard.
