Despite Trailing in the Polls, McCain Continues Fight For Iowa

(CBS)
From CBS Nes' John Bentley:

(CEDAR FALLS, IOWA) – John McCain reminded Iowa voters of all the things he believes make their state great – the Iowa state fair, pork chops on a stick, Sen. Chuck Grassley – in hopes that they would return the favor and vote for him on Election Day.

"I'm reminded of the people of Iowa, that is a heartland, family valued part of America," McCain said.

Palin Stretches Facts In Effort To Paint Obama As Presumptuous

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(TAMPA, FLA.) - Following a fiery introduction by "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who accused the media of being "deliberately sexist" in its coverage of Sarah Palin, the Alaska governor suggested that Barack Obama assumes he already has the election wrapped up.

"And you know that elections - they're not decided until the votes are counted," Palin said at a rally here.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck To Stump With Palin Today

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(TAMPA) Usually it's country music singers who introduce Sarah Palin on the campaign trail, but here in Florida on Sunday, a different kind of entertainer is set to stump with the Alaska governor.

"The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck will introduce Palin at rallies in Tampa and Kissimmee, along the I-4 Corridor, which is considered the most important swing region in this critical battleground state. Hasselbeck is a frequent defender of Palin on the ABC talk show, and her presence is sure to bring additional excitement to the large crowd that has already gathered here in Tampa.

Obama Heads To Colorado

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) - Barack Obama continues his swing through western battleground states today, with two campaign stops in Colorado.

A Democrat has not carried the state since 1992, when Bill Clinton won by a double-digit margin. In the last three presidential elections, Republicans have won Colorado by less than 10 points. In 2004, George Bush beat John Kerry 52% to 47%.

Obama Intensifies Tone Against McCain, Calls His Attacks "Loco"

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(LAS VEGAS) - Barack Obama continued to ratchet up his rhetoric against John McCain tonight, signaling that with ten days to go until the election, he is ready for a fight. At a stadium rally at Bonanza High School, Obama suggested that McCain's attacks are "loco", Spanish for "crazy", and that he is "throwing the kitchen sink at him."

Instead of talking about the economy, Obama said McCain is focusing on attacking him. "They've throwing everything at us, including the kitchen sink – all 7 of those kitchen sinks he's been throwing at me," Obama said, perhaps referring to McCain's multiple homes.

McCain Accuses Obama of More Than Just Measuring the Drapes

(CBS)
From CBS News' John Bentley:

(MESILLA, N.M.) – "When I pull this thing off, I have a request for my opponent," John McCain said at rally here today. "I want him to save that manuscript of his inaugural address and donate it to the Smithsonian, so they can put it right next to the Chicago paper that says 'Dewey defeats Truman.'"

Taking aim squarely at what McCain's campaign feels is the presumptiveness of Barack Obama, McCain was referring to a report in the New York Times that says John Podesta has already drafted an inaugural address for Obama.

UPDATED: Palin Set For Keystone State Blitz

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(DES MOINES, IOWA) - Sarah Palin is set to embark on an extensive bus tour of Pennsylvania next week, CBS News has learned.

Although recent polls show the Republican ticket trailing by double digits in the state, the McCain campaign appears to be largely resting its hopes for Election Day victory on a come-from-behind win in Pennsylvania.

Obama: "Not an Inch of Daylight Between" McCain and Bush

(CBS)
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(RENO, NEV.) - Barack Obama mocked and derided John McCain today for trying to distance himself from George Bush and for linking him to the administration. Calling it one of the strangest twists of the campaign, Obama said McCain's argument that he will continue Bush's economic policies is senseless.

"Let's be clear: John McCain attacking George Bush for his out-of-hand economic policy is like Dick Cheney attacking George Bush for his go-it-alone foreign policy," Obama said.

Woman With Deaf Son Questions Palin On Special Needs Care

(CBS)
From CBS News' Scott Conroy:

(DES MOINES, IOWA) - After Sarah Palin spoke to an overflow crowd in Sioux City, Iowa, a woman in the crowd approached the governor to query her about what specific things she'd do to improve special needs care.

Palin asked the woman — who later identified herself as Jessica Haas from Le Mars, Iowa — whether she had heard her speech in Pittsburgh on Friday about the subject. Haas said that she had not.
