Crock Pot Cooking... In The Car

Many of you know Alton Brown from his great work on Iron Chef. I got to be a judge on that show last year and it was a total blast! But I honestly never thought I would find myself cooking with Alton in a car! You won't believe what we managed to whip up, how we managed to do it, and what he keeps in the glove compartment.

Hannah, Hubby Swap Jobs

Of all the things that I did during my sports broadcasting career, I can say one thing I never came close to attempting was calling play-by-play of a golf tournament. That's exactly what I had to do for a story on trading places with my husband, NBC Sports golf host, Dan Hicks.

Jim Nantz and the CBS golf crew took me under their wing during a PGA tournament in Charlotte, N.C., and let me attempt the job. It was incredibly hard and I was really nervous. In the end it was a lot of fun, but I'll definitely leave the golf up to him.

did filling in for me during a cooking segment with chef Bobby Flay!

Miracle in the Andes

There's nothing better than a good story, and when it's a true, almost unbelievable story of human courage, that's something special.

Nando Parrado, was one of the few members of the 1972 Uruguay rugby team that survived a plane crash in the Andes Mountains. Parrado told me in stark terms about how he was willing to do anything it took to survive, even something most people would find unthinkable. I was completely blown away by this interview, and the book is great.

Twin Sisters Reunited

This is an amazing story that I did in Pennsylvania about two girls who were adopted by separate families from
China, only to find out years later that they were biological twins.

You're not going to believe how they came to this discovery and the great efforts that the families have made to keep the girls close. My favorite part of shooting this story this was sitting on the floor and coloring with the girls, something I like to do with my own kids.

Fabulous Animals

Sometimes we have to do segments on The Early Show, that we would really rather not touch, and this is definitely one of those times. You'll see a gila monster in this video which, was actually bleeding at the mouth after it cut its tongue in transport. Not only was this incredibly gross, but I thought the animals were scary, and you'll see that at one point, I'm literally jumping to get away. Believe it or not, I won a Gracie Award for my performance in this one, and lived to tell about it.
