We've been had! Anonymous not "killing" Facebook

(CBS/ZDNET) - Apparently the report that Anonymous was planning to take down Facebook on Guy Fawkes Day was a hoax.

Emil Protalinski at ZDNET pointed out some oddities with the whole Facebook operation. He discovered the Twitter and YouTube accounts for the operation known as #OpFacebook were created on July 16.

Anonymous will "kill" Facebook on Guy Fawkes Day

Hacking group Anonymous has threatened to "kill" Facebook on Guy Fawkes Day, citing the social network's disregard for people's privacy. In a statement released Tuesday Anonymous said, "Facebook is the opposite of the Antisec cause."

(CBS) The University of North Texas (UNT) has raised a few eyebrows with the latest Twitter sex scandal.

According to the North Texas Daily, a video allegedly featuring a woman receiving oral sex from three men in front of a small audience was uploaded to TwitVid. The video has been taken  down, but Twitter users are still talking about the incident.

Google Voice goes international in 38 languages

(CBS) - Our overlords at Google have now enabled calls through Gmail in 38 languages. Over 150 locations around the world will also see a fee reduction.

Google Voice already enables users in the U.S. and Canada to make free calls to land lines or cell phones through Gmail. Now, that coverage is expanding - Google has made a few tweaks to the call rates. International rates are inexpensive by comparison to other telecommunications services.

Google+ reaches 25 million visitors in one month

(CBS) - It's hard to believe that only a month ago no one could get an invitation to Google+. Even the developers weren't prepared for the social networking site to be that successful right out of the gate.

According to a comScore report, Google+ has gained over 25 million unique visitors in the month since launch on June 28, and grows at the rate of one million visitors per day.

We all know the social network is a repository for baby pictures, so the move to add an "Expected: Child" option to profiles is a no-brainer. After all, chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg isn't known for wanting Facebook to be more private.

Skype iPad app is back at App Store

(CBS) - Wait for it...and the Skype iPad app is back online after being released to the public, then quickly pulled yesterday.

Skype posted this statement via Twitter just moments ago, "Finally, Skype for iPad is now available," with a link to a blog post touting all of the bells and whistles that are available for video chat enthusiasts.

Head of product management Rick Osterloh pointed out the benefits and features of a Skype iPad app, "because it is on the iPad, Skype video calls can be made at the beach, in a car or even lying on a couch." He added, "The new Skype for iPad app also takes full advantage of the iPad 2's dual cameras, allowing users to talk face-to-face with the iPad's front camera or switch to the rear camera to show what they can see."
