(CNET) Apple has done just about all it can to get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned from sale in the U.S.

The company late yesterday posted a $2.6 million bond to inch closer to stopping the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from being offered for sale, according to Foss Patents, which was first to report the news. The bond was set Tuesday by Judge Lucy Koh, of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, who awarded Apple a preliminary injunction against Samsung's tablet.

Analyst: iPhone sales hits $150 billion in 5 years

(CBS News) Apple's iPhone will celebrate its 5-year anniversary Friday. To mark the industry-changing smartphone's birthday, Strategy Analytics announced research suggesting that the company has raked in $150 billion in iPhone sales to date.

"Apple's first iPhone was launched commercially in the United States on June 29, 2007. Between June 2007 and June 2012, we estimate the iPhone family of models has generated $150 billion of cumulative revenues worldwide for Apple. This is an impressive achievement and it illustrates just how popular the iPhone has become during the past five years," Neil Shah, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, said in a press release.

(AP) Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak says the U.S. piracy case against Kim Dotcom is "hokey" and a threat to Internet innovation.

Wozniak and Dotcom spoke out against the federal case in separate interviews with The Associated Press Wednesday. Dotcom, the flamboyant founder of file-sharing site Megaupload, is accused by federal authorities of facilitating Internet piracy on a massive scale. Charged with racketeering and money laundering, he's fighting U.S. attempts to extradite him from New Zealand.

Apple wins injunction against Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

(CNET) Apple has been granted a preliminary injunction against U.S. sales of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1, the tablet deemed by many as the leading challenger to the iPad.

The ruling was handed down today by judge Lucy Koh for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, according to a Reuters report. Her order will take effect once Apple posts a $2.6 million bond to protect Samsung if the injunction is later found to have been unnecessary.

Apple iPads speed up drivers' license renewals

(CBS/AP) Some Tennessee drivers will get a break when applying for license renewals, thanks to Apple iPad kiosks that have been installed throughout the state.

The Department of Safety and Homeland Security has installed 72 iPad automatic self-service electronic terminals (ASSETS) kiosks inside 26 driver service centers to speed renewals and replacements. Most of the terminals are in urban areas of the state.

(CNET) Microsoft's much talked about Surface tablet may be Wi-Fi only, according to Bloomberg.

The news agency reports that people familiar with the tablet's specs say the device will go on sale without any mobile-phone network connection, but will come with a short-range Wi-Fi connection. This could change in later models.

Analyst: Apple could be most profitable company

(CNET) Analyst Brian White remains ever bullish on Apple.

White is the Topeka Capital Markets analyst who in April boldly declared that Apple's stock would eventually be worth $1,001 a share. A few weeks later, he pushed that up to the singular price target of $1,111 "over the next year." That would amount to Apple's stock roughly doubling in value.

(CBS News) An original Apple 1 computer motherboard sold Friday at Sotheby's for $374,500. The auction house originally estimated the item would sell for $120,000 to $180,000.

Filed under "Fine Books and Manuscripts," the motherboard is operational and is marked "Apple Computer 1" and dated 1976.
