Lindsay Lohan's Doctors Under Investigation

NEW YORK (CBS) The Medical Board of California is investigating the doctors who prescribed a variety of medications to Lindsay Lohan.

An attorney for the actress' father, Michael Lohan, sent a letter to the California attorney general in July asking for an investigation into "the unscrupulous doctors [who] overprescribe medications..."

NEW YORK (CBS) Lindsay Lohan may be returning to "Saturday Night Live" this December for another turn as host.

The actress, recently freed from a stint in jail and court-ordered rehab, is reportedly in talks to host the Dec. 4 episode of the sketch comedy show, according to newspaper reports.

NEW YORK (CBS) Prince Poppycock got buzzed Tuesday night on a cut-throat finals episode of "America's Got Talent."

The fan favorite, along with the other big crowd pleaser Jackie Evancho, looked set to battle it out for the season 5 title, until Poppycock got buzzed by judge Piers Morgan, who said  his act wasn't fun enough.

A rep for the Grammy-winning singer says he deleted his Twitter account with his Battle Studies Tour "now at a close and a return to the studio planned."

NEW YORK (CBS) Oprah Winfrey is going to the land down under, taking her jumping, screaming and crying audience with her... but it sure isn't for free.

The Queen of Talk surprised her studio audience on the premiere of her 25th season by giving some 300 guests a trip to Australia. The country's tourism board will be footing the bill, estimated at $3 million (U.S. $2.8 million), according to published reports.

Shoppers got a peek at the eclectic jewelry designer's Spring 2011 collection on Fashon's Night Out. She was one of 1,000 retailers across New York city who kept their doors open late to help promote the biggest fashion party in history.

DECATUR, Georgia (CBS/AP) Updated 4:30 p.m. EST  A lawyer for Kid Rock says the musician and his entourage were trying to defend themselves from another customer at a Georgia Waffle House when a fight broke out in 2007.

Attorney William Horton made the claim Tuesday during his opening statement in DeKalb County Court. The entertainer whose real name is Robert James Ritchie and five members of his entourage are facing a civil lawsuit over the fight.

NEW YORK (AP/CBS) There was dancing in the streets and sidewalks and the stores Friday night as the nation celebrated Fashion's Night Out.

The second annual Fashion's Night Out featured events at various stores around New York, all meant to celebrate the fashion industry and New York Fashion Week. Some featured celebrity appearances, while others had contests, promotional items for purchase and other events.

NEW YORK (CBS) Chelsea Handler's hosting abilities may have gotten mixed reviews, but that didn't stop MTV's "Video Music Awards" from pulling in high ratings.

The annual pop music event drew its biggest audience for any telecast on the network since 2002.

TORONTO (AP/CBS) New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen will discuss - and take questions about - the making of "Darkness at th e Edg of Town" this evening at the Toronto Film festival.

The session with the Boss will precede the premiere of "The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town," a documentary about making the album 32 years ago.

LONDON (CBS/AP) A British judge has sentenced George Michael to eight weeks in jail for driving while under the influence of drugs after the singer crashed his car into a London photo shop.

The singer pleaded guilty last month to driving under the influence and possession of cannabis after he drove his Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps store on July 4.

Reality TV star Spencer Pratt says his 12-hour detainment at a Costa Rica airport for arms possession has given him a chance at reconciliation with wife Heidi Montag.

Montag stood by him during what he called the "wildest day ever of either of our lives" and sparked hope that she might drop her divorce filing, Pratt said Monday.

Harold Gould, Character Actor of "The Sting," Dies at 86

NEW YORK (CBS) Harold Gould, a veteran character actor who played con-man Kid Twist in the 1973 movie "The Sting," has died. He was 86.

Gould, who also was known for his stage work, died Saturday at the Motion Picture & Television Fund retirement community in Los Angeles of prostate cancer, said Leah Gould, his daughter-in-law.
