"Mockingjay," the most anticipated young adult novel of the summer, got a midnight welcome today.
Author Suzanne Collins, her gentle smile and soft features framed by waves of blond hair, met with hundreds of fans crowded into the Books of Wonder store in Manhattan and unveiled the most anticipated young adult novel of the summer, "Mockingjay."

LAS VEGAS (CBS/AP) Semi-finals competition in the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas is winding down as contestants prepare for the Aug. 23 televised pageant.
The Miss Universe organization this week announced its judges, who include husband and wife William Baldwin and Chynna Phillips, Olympic gold-medal-winning ice skater Evan Lysacek and illusionist Criss Angel. Also at the judges' table are drummer Sheila E, actors Jane Seymour and Chazz Palminteri and MSNBC's Tamron Hall.

NEW YORK (CBS) The Christmas Day argument that resulted in an assault charge against actor Charlie Sheen and rehab stints for both Sheen and his wife, Brooke Mueller, was reportedly over a Grammy-winning song by the music group Train.
Sheen, 44, reportedly told police that Mueller flew into a jealous rage after learning that he had purchased a telescope for one of the daughters he has with ex-wife Denise Richards.

NFL Taps Swift, Matthews for Kickoff Concert

NEW YORK (CBS) The Dave Matthews Band and pop singer Taylor Swift will perform in New Orleans' Jackson Square on Sept. 8 for the NFL's annual kickoff concert.
The show by the Grammy-winning artists will precede the season's opener at the New Orleans Superdome between the Super Bowl champion Saints and the Minnesota Vikings.

/ Mark J. TerrillA Los Angeles judge has granted Bullock a restraining order against Thomas James Weldon, who has a history of stalking the actress and allegedly had traveled cross-country to try to meet her.
The order issued Friday requires him to refrain from trying to contact her for the next three years.

(CBS) Eminem and Rihanna were getting some heat Friday over the steamy and abusive images in their new music video which debuted on MTV Thursday night before "Jersey Shore."
As the two musicians sing "Love the Way You Lie," viewers see Megan Fox an d Dominic Monaghan enact scenes of domestic violence alternating with love scenes.

"So You Think You Can Dance" Results: Show Yields Final 3

(CBS) Robert, Lauren and Kent waltzed to the finals of "So You Think You Can Dance" Thursday night after 23-year-old Brooklyn contemporary dancer AdeChike Torbert was eliminated from the dance competition.
For the first time, judges had no say in who went home, relying entirely on viewer votes, which host Cat Deeley said topped 10 million. Judge Adam Shankman even admitted that he prayed Wednesday that viewers would send Lauren to the finals.

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) A Canadian band has come up with some new words for a Pink Floyd classic to reflect dissent young Iranians have for their government.
Blurred Vision, a Toronto-based rock band fronted by two Iranian brothers, have permission from Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters to use "Another Brick in the Wall" with new lyrics.

(CBS) A Canadian woman accused of a 2005 attack on actor Leonardo DiCaprio has been ordered by a judge to keep away from the actor.
The BBC reports that a restraining order against Aretha Wilson, 40, prohibits her from contacting or coming within 500 yards of the "Inception" star.

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) A lawyer for reality TV star and accused White House gatecrasher Michaele Salahi isn't happy about her client's appearance on "The View."
Lawyer Lisa Bloom says the ABC show's producers turned on the applause light for the audience when Sherri Shepherd, one of the show's hosts, told Salahi that "you should be in jail.''
Bloom says her client's appearance Wednesday on the talk show was "degrading and demeaning."

Best-selling Swedish author Stieg Larsson drew on an incident from his teens in writing about the violence perpetrated against his female protagonist, a friend reportedly claims in a soon-to-be-published biography of the author.
ABC News is reporting that Larsson's longtime friend and publishing colleague Kurdo Baksi said the "Millennium Trilogy" is Larsson's attempt to atone for a rape he witnessed and never reported when he was 15 years old.
