CBS NEWS PROJECTS SHERROD BROWN WINNER
Democrat Sherrod Brown vs. Republican Mike Dewine (Incumbent)
CBS News Race Outlook: Ohio was a presidential battleground in 2004, and this was a competitive race. The state has seen heavy outsourcing, and Brown criticized DeWine for his votes supporting CAFTA, and favoring NAFTA. The President headlined two fundraisers for DeWine, including one in June that took in more than $1 million. VP Cheney headlined one as well, and Mr. Bush appeared with DeWine at an April Cincinnati Reds game. Ohio has witnessed its fair share of political scandal. Gov. Taft has pleaded guilty for failing to report gifts exceeding $75. DeWine has no connections to any of these scandals except for his party affiliation, but they could still have had an impact on this race.
