CBS NEWS PROJECTS KENT CONRADWINNER
Democrat Kent Conrad (Incumbent) vs. Republican Dwight Grotberg
CBS News Race Outlook: Even though this state, nationally, voted overwhelmingly Republican, Conrad hasn’t faced a strong challenge for this seat since 1986 when he was first elected. He won that race with 50 percent of the vote, but in 1994, he won with 58 percent. In every other election he’s won with more than 60 percent. Grotberg is a political novice and was seriously underfunded.
