CBS NEWS PROJECTS JENNIFER GRANHOLMWINNER

Democrat Jennifer Granholm (Incumbent)
vs.
Republican Dick DeVoss

The economy in Michigan is weak which was a threat to incumbent Granholm, who hoped to convince voters that the federal government is more to blame for the state’s economic woes. She was considered one of the most vulnerable gubernatorial incumbents. DeVos is a millionaire (He’s a former executive of Amway) whose deep pockets fueled his campaign. DeVos dipped into his personal fortune to run unchallenged TV ads. Recently the state Democratic Party stepped in to run ads for Granholm touting "her work to create jobs and a recent decision by Google to bring 1,000 jobs to Ann Arbor."
