Sebelius remains popular and was favored to keep her seat. She has been able to capitalize on the split between moderates and conservatives in the Kansas Republican party by reaching out to GOPers who are not happy with the conservative faction of the party. In fact, Sebelius’ running mate, Mark Parkinson, is the former head of the state GOP. He switched his party affiliation.
