
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives were up for grabs in the 2006 election. CBS News identified about 50 of those as competitive races (orange). Entering the election, Republicans held a 232-202 advantage, with 1 Independent, but Democrats took control of the House, gaining at least 28 seats.
