The 133rd pope, Benedict V was elected in 964 on the death of a lawful pope who had been deposed by the emperor and replaced by an imposter who was driven into exile by the Romans. After just a few months, the emperor reinstated the imposter and took Benedict to Germany, where he was placed in the care of the archbishop of Hamburg-Bremen. He was buried in Hamburg and his remains were later moved to Rome.
