The nation's "drug czar" in charge of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, John Walters came to the post with a reputation for a tough approach to the ongoing war on drugs. He was the office's deputy director for supply reduction when it was headed by William Bennett. He is a co-author with Bennett and John J. DiIulio Jr. of the book "Body Count: Moral Poverty and How to Win America's War Against Crime and Drugs." Walters holds degrees from Michigan State University and University of Toronto.
