Born July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Conn., President George W. Bush grew up in Midland, Texas, and Houston. He earned a bachelor's degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. After serving as a pilot for the Texas Air National Guard, he began his career in the oil and gas business in 1975 and continued until 1986. He married Laura Welch in 1977, and twin daughters Barbara and Jenna were born in 1981. Following his work on his father's 1988 presidential campaign, he assembled a group of partners that purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989. He served as managing general partner of the Texas Rangers until he was elected governor in 1994. He was re-elected in 1998 and left the job after winning the White House in 2000. President Bush won a second term Nov. 2, 2004.
