First awarded in 1901, the Nobel Prizes were created by Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite. His plan for the awards was written in his will. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway, while the prizes in medicine, physics, chemistry, literature and economics are presented in Sweden.
