According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, an average of 16 people on the organ donation waiting list die every day because there are not enough organs available. You can specify your desire to be a donor on your drivers' license or by carrying a donor card; many advance directive forms also address this question. As with all end-of-life decisions, it is also important to share your decision with those close to you so that it has the greatest chance of being honored.
