Tyne Daly as Detective Mary Beth Lacey and Sharon Gless as Detective Christine Cagney presented television audiences with a pair of strong women whose personal relationships were as fascinating as their line of work.
While Cagney was a single woman, Lacey was a devoted wife and mother, and so the issues explored ranged from date rape to a runaway son.
Supporting cast members included Al Waxman as Lt.
