Blair, 27, moved from intern to national reporter despite repeated mistakes and a terse warning from an editor: "We have to stop Jayson from writing for the Times. Right now." He resigned May 1, 2003, before a Times investigation turned up problems in at least three dozen of his stories over a six-month period. Blair is said to be working on a book about his troubled stay at the Times.
