I wish I could have the vote back. I made a mistake.” Calls Iraq a “civil war”. "Sacrificing American lives to engage in a civil war is a deeply corrupt strategy and one I have been working to combat in Congress. I call on my fellow candidates to help me bring an end to this war long before 2013 - we need to end this war now before it passes Vietnam as the longest war in American history."Wants to tie a firm deadline for withdrawal to funding. Supports Feingold-Reid and added an amendment that stated U.S. combat troops should start moving out of Iraq within 120 days, be completely out by April 2008. The only troops that would remain are those responsible for the “protection of U.S. personnel and infrastructure, specific counterterrorism operations, and assistance with the training and equipping of Iraqi forces.” (Dodd for President website)Opposed the Bush surge and advocates surge of diplomacy.
