American student Amanda Knox was found guilty in an Italian court Dec. 2009 and sentenced to 26 years for the murder of her British roommate Meredith Kercher. Prosecutors claimed Knox, as well as her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, sexually assaulted and murdered Kercher. Knox and her family have said from the beginning that she had nothing to do with the crime. Knox and Sollecito, who is Italian, are appealing the lower court verdict.
