An early and ardent support of President Barack Obama, Rocker Bruce Springsteen was tapped to open the Inauguration Concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Jan. 20, 2009, in Washington, D.C. He performed his song "The Rising," written about the Sept. 11 terrorist attack with a Gospel Choir.
