Lauren Bacall
Lauren Bacall was born Betty Joan Perske on Sept. 16, 1924 in New York. Her appearance on a cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine at age 18 led to her first film role. She was spotted by the wife of director Howard Hawks, who gave her a screen test and cast her in "To Have and Have Not" (1944).
