Network News Anchors

As election night nears, the three network news anchors will be grabbing almost as many headlines as the candidates. It is the first presidential election for each. Katie Couric became the CBS anchor in September 2005; Brian Williams took over the NBC anchor desk after the 2004 elections; and Charles Gibson inherited the ABC anchor post from Peter Jennings who died in August 2005.
