John Galliano

Former Christian Dior designer John Galliano arrives at the Paris court house, June 22, 2011.

The famed designer, known for his flamboyant personality and over-the-top creations, was convicted by a Paris court on Sept. 8, 2011, of making racist and anti-Semitic remarks on two separate occasions at a Paris bar. Galliano, who didn't attend the announcement of the verdict, was given no prison time. The court imposed a suspended 6,000 euro ($8,400) fine, which means it goes on his criminal record but he does not have to pay it.
