The Jersey Shore tourist town was hit hard, with the amusement park on the water completely destroyed. Rides that once crowned a pier were dumped into the ocean. Some homes were smashed, and others were partially buried in sand.
N.J. Governor Chris Christie described the devastation on the Jersey coast as "unthinkable."
