"Operation Godfather"

U.S. Marines with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment (2/1), Regimental Combat Team 1, and Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers cross a makeshift bridge during Operation Godfather in Durzay, Afghanistan, Jan. 14, 2011.
2/1 partnered with the ANA to successfully clear the last remaining Taliban stronghold in the southern area of Garmser District. 2/1 discovered and cleared numerous weapons caches and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) while expanding the footprint of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and Government of Islam Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) to the community of Durzay.
