India Not Happy with U.S. Restrictions on Military Equipment

When the U.S. government agrees to allow a company to sell equipment to a foreign nation there are usually End User restrictions placed. This is especially true of modern, advanced equipment. DefenseNews.com reports that the Indian government is not happy with the restrictions proposed on the recent C-130J aircraft and possibly on the P-8 maritime surveillance aircraft. U.S. companies have only recently penetrated a market held mainly by Russian and British providers and now these restrictions may be souring the Indian military on further purchases. In the past India has not been respectful of other nation's attempts at restricting resale of equipment like Britain. The countries and industry are torn of course as they want to sell to India but at the same time do not want to see the equipment or technology transferred to other nations or misused.
