Integrated European Defense Market Endorsed by European Parliament
EuropeanVoice.com reports that the European Parliament has voted in support of creating one integrated defense market for its member states. Currently each nation has an internal market of suppliers and contracting. There has been very little effort for nations' to look at other countries to supply the product. In Italy the government was penalized by the European Union for limiting contracts to Italian companies. The Parliament has already passed legislation eliminating the requirement for licenses to sell equipment from one EU country to another. If sufficient member states endorse this proposal new rules governing the sale of military and security goods will be implemented.
