Lauren Spierer Update: Indiana police eyeing possible link between an accused murderer and missing student
According to the Journal News, William Clyde Gibson is charged with the 2002 murder of 45-year-old Karen Hodella and the recent murder of 75-year-old Christine Whitis. He is also reportedly the suspect in the murder of another woman found buried in his backyard.
But the Journal News reports that according to Bloomington Police, there are no specific leads that indicate Gibson may have been involved in Spierer's disappearance.
"We have no indication that there is any connection to Lauren's case but we are certainly interested in anyone who comes to the attention of law enforcement for targeting women as victims," Bloomington police Capt. Joseph Qualters said. "That is the sole purpose for the inquiry."
Spierer, 20, was last seen on June 3, 2011 after leaving a downtown Bloomington bar around 4:30a.m.
