Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's Wrecking Ball tour landed in second with $79.9 million. But the Boss will rake in even more money, as his outing stretches into September.
Waters also faces competition from Madonna. She has sold $42 million in tickets worldwide, but the magazine points out that the pop star "has yet to hit North America [and] also has an outside shot" as finishing as the year's top tour.
In the North American market, Cirque du Soleil's touring show "Michael Jackson: The Immortal" was the hottest ticket in North America, with $78.5 million in sales, reports Reuters. In the same market, Waters was second with $61.9 million.
Overall, ticket sales are so far up 1.2 percent this year thanks to major tours from Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Paul McCartney.
